Welcome to our section of  Odds & Ends
here you will find all kinds of information of a more personal viewpoint.

Here we're in Southern Missouri around October enjoying our
Mountain Horses.     They are such a pleasure to ride, not only
are they smooth but they have endurance and that calm willing
way about them that you can really relax and enjoy the ride.

On the left she's riding Ranger (he's sold), while we were there a woman
who only rides on flat ground rode Ranger.   And she was thrilled with the
way he took care of her over ruff hilly ground.... she came back smiling,
telling everyone about the great ride she had.

On the right I'm riding my personal Mountain Horse Gypsy.
She is the one that made us want to get more and introduce them
here in the mid-west.    She has a special personality about her
that I've grown to cherish, each one has their own unique
personality and way of moving that once you
bond together you just love riding them.

Gypsy and I've put a lot of miles under our belts together, here we're in the National Grass Lands of South Dakota.

When you bond with your Mountain Horse they will
trust you... case in point;   We were on a ride going
to the Iowa State Fair, following back dirt or gravel
roads.     While crossing a railroad track which we
have done many times,.. only this time the crossing
was old and worn, she stepped and got caught in
between the rail and wood.    She tried to pull out
fell and I helped her up and told her to stay... she
stood till I cut away the wood and got her out.

Now on the other side of the fence the Mountain Horse can be
very interesting (or entertaining) to have around because you
never know what they may do next.    You see, they are very
intelligent, athletic, and curious animals;   Here you see one
of our mares on a hot day, she climbed into the water tank
to cool off by splashing water around her.   Other times we
have had fouls follow us into the hay shed and start climbing
up our hay bails.   That's scary, we get them down right away
so they don't get caught in the bail twine and get hurt falling.

They are very willing to please you and  they're calm it's not
hard to get them use to things, in our sacking out as part of
our training it's not usual for them to accept something new
right away.      That's a plastic tarp thrown over this young
gelding with some plastic jugs tied together draped over him,
while he's standing calmly on a plastic tarp.

We still get a chance to see some of our horses we've sold once in awhile due to being in nearby towns...
